HISTORY
First Baptist Church of Umatilla is proud to share its rich history. We started during the early days of community life in Umatilla, Florida, with a mission to meet the spiritual needs of our growing community. We’ve always strived to be a welcoming place where everyone can come together to grow in faith and friendship.
Initially, we were a small congregation focused on fellowship, worship, and reaching out to local families. Over the years, First Baptist Umatilla has grown and evolved, becoming a key part of our community. We’re not just about spiritual guidance; we also offer a range of social and charitable services. Our mission has continued to reflect our commitment to outreach and community service, from food drives to partnerships with local organizations and various ministry programs.
We pride ourselves on being adaptable, blending traditional and contemporary worship styles to stay relevant and supportive of our community across generations. We’d love to have you join us on this journey of faith and service!
BELIEFS
We are centered around core Christian doctrines, grounded in the teachings of the Bible.
God: We believe in one God existing in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus: We affirm that Jesus is both fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died as a sacrifice for humanity's sins, rose from the grave, and ascended to heaven. We also believe in His literal return to earth.
Bible: The church holds that the Bible is the infallible Word of God and the sole authority for faith and practice.
Salvation: Salvation is considered a gift received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. We also believe in the assurance of eternal security for those truly saved.
Baptism: We practice baptism by immersion as an act of obedience after one has accepted salvation.
Church: We believe the church is a local body of baptized believers with Jesus Christ as the head.
We also emphasize the importance of living out one's faith in society while maintaining the separation of church and state.
VISION
At our church, we see ourselves as the hands and feet of Christ, dedicated to helping individuals meet their physical and spiritual needs. We cherish the values of giving, loving, and serving, all with the goal of making Christ’s presence felt in our communities. We truly believe in the power of transformation through Christ and are passionate about sharing His message with everyone.
Our mission goes way beyond our church walls! We’re excited to reach out to our broader community and the world around us, offering support and encouragement to individuals at every stage of life—whether they’re feeling spiritually broken, on the mend, or thriving.
